{"id":2,"date":"2026-07-31T12:11:56","date_gmt":"2026-07-31T12:11:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wesidue.com\/?page_id=2"},"modified":"2026-08-09T05:18:50","modified_gmt":"2026-08-09T11:18:50","slug":"about","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wesidue.com\/?page_id=2","title":{"rendered":"About"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I\u2019m Wesley King, and I\u2019ve been writing \u2014 professionally and otherwise \u2014 for a few decades at this point, and blogging (although I hate the term) has been a part of the mix practically since the concept was introduced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My <s>blogs<\/s> websites have had many names, and many forms over the years, but in the 2010s, I initially decided to consolidate it all under the name <a href=\"https:\/\/querybang.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">QueryBang<\/a>. After film photography as a hobby took over my life in 2019, it quickly overran that site, and I ended-up moving all of the content\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/beyondtheaperture.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">elsewhere<\/a>, largely leaving QueryBang to die.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then, in 2024, I started getting the itch to have a place to post some thoughts from time-to-time, so I decided to revisit QueryBang as a home for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lastly, in late 2026, I felt a need to separate the types of writing I did (and wanted to do), and split-off some of it to this site: <strong>wesidue<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I see:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>wesidue<\/strong> as a place for writing that begins, &#8220;So, I&#8217;ve been thinking&#8230;&#8221; Essays, observations, questions, things that I&#8217;m trying to understand. My place to explore without feeling forced to arrive at an answer (although I might).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>QueryBang<\/strong> is my place for writing that start with, &#8220;Here&#8217;s how I do (or did) this&#8230;&#8221; It&#8217;s for practical, instructional, reproducible material where the goal is to help someone solve a problem by explaining how I solved it (or tried to).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On both <s>blogs<\/s> websites, I might talk about nearly anything. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">And, a mini-rant<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I write because I like to, I share it because I want to, and I hope readers get something out of it. And I keep it free of all the things that annoy me about websites in general, and blogs specifically, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Annoying third-party advertising (or indeed&nbsp;<em>any<\/em>&nbsp;advertising)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pop-up boxes begging you to subscribe to a newsletter<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Footers that urge you to \u201csupport me\u201d or \u201cdonate\u201d or \u201cbuy me a coffee\u201d to show your appreciation or support<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click-bait affiliate links that seek to make money by getting you to buy stuff from online stores<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Constant nagging for social media follows<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A bunch of unnecessary tracking and violations of your privacy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">About the lack of comments<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the things that most people think makes a blog a\u00a0<em>blog<\/em>\u00a0is interactivity \u2014 primarily through comments. Lots of websites beg you to post comments primarily because it (supposedly) helps search engine ranking. The problem is, most of them are from people who need an anger management class, or who would benefit from half an ounce of human compassion or empathy, or are from bots linking to suspicious websites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I do not allow comments of any kind on this site. I never have, and never will. This site is not intended to be a forum for public dialog, or debate, and screening and managing comments can become a full-time job all by itself \u2014 one I am decidedly not interested in. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you feel I\u2019ve gotten something\u00a0<em>factually<\/em>\u00a0incorrect, you can let me know.
